Networking events can be difficult until you are further into your career but there are lots of online sources you can use to get started. Connect with people on LinkedIn and Twitter and ask for their help. If you have connected with a few people before an event, it can make it easier to go and introduce yourself. Just be honest about why you are connecting and ask for someone’s help. I often get contacted by graduates in this way and always try to help if I can.
