I run BeecherMadden; a recruitment company specialising in corporate governance, resilience & security and niche technology. The company has offices in London and New York. I am also a judge for the Cyber Security Awards, a speaker on women in cyber security and run Tatius, an investment company in start-up projects. I also have two children under two!
To juggle so many things, you have to make decisions and act quickly. Respond to emails or requests as soon as possible after receiving them. Use a to-do list but recognise it is often quicker to do something straight away, rather than adding it to a very long list! Delegate but keep your standards. I often spend time doing something myself as I worry it won’t get done “properly.” However, Ive learned you can always get someone to do it until it is done right and they will have learned for next time. Using technology is important for me to stay on top of things. I order my food shopping and birthday presents from my phone (although maybe a few days late)!
I also make time to switch off. I may still be available but I take time out of the office or have time where I focus on something my children enjoy. This stops me burning out and keeps me positive, even if things are not going well that day!
